Biden’s Inspiring Response

According to his allies, American President Joe Biden will discuss the effects of budget cuts and the government shutdown on the American people in a significant economic speech. They have less than three weeks before their funding expires because the Republican-controlled House and the Democratic-controlled Senate are both scheduled to remain in session until September 30.

President commented on the announced Republican-led impeachment investigation this Wednesday. They just knew they wanted to impeach me; I have no idea why. And now, the best thing I can say is that they want to impeach me because they want to shut down the government,” Biden said at a campaign event in Virginia.

“So look, I’ve got work to do. I don’t wake up every day, no joke, focused on impeachment. I’ve got a job. They ought to as well, he added.

McCarthy, from California, announced on Tuesday that he is directing three committees to begin the impeachment investigation, signaling earlier this month that they would not start such an inquiry without a floor vote.

Congress is also facing a September 30 deadline to fund the government to avoid a shutdown. Hardline GOP House members are pushing for spending cuts in the funding bill, which Biden will have to sign to keep the government open.

Announcing it on Tuesday, McCarthy characterized the impeachment investigation into the President and his son Hunter Biden, led by House Republicans for months, as “the logical next step.” The investigation has not yet produced evidence of wrongdoing by the President or his son in their foreign business dealings.

McCarthy said the investigation would be led by House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jim Jordan, House Ways and Means Committee ranking member Jason Smith, and Oversight Committee ranking member James Comer, R-Kentucky, by R-Oversight, and also coordinated by R-Cue.

Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, appeared before the House Oversight Committee in July to testify about money that Hunter Biden received from foreign sources. Archer testified that he was not aware of any wrongdoing by the President and that Hunter Biden frequently spoke to his father about meeting with foreign business partners, though discussions were limited to pleasantries such as the weather, and not substantive matters.

Comer said on Wednesday that his committee would hold hearings this month “that will evaluate some things that we believe the Biden family has done that violate our laws.” He did not provide details on timing or subject matter during the hearing.
